Anonymous asked: I've never seen much hate for Daenerys, but what do they mean by white savior? Like some example because I can't really imagine why people would hate her... Even though I may have some idea considering this IS tumblr.

a “white savior” is a narrative trope where a white character is portrayed as the hero responsible for saving the people of color; most of the time by using their white privilege. it is a style of storytelling that is deemed problematic, and rightly so, because it’s told only from a limited white perspective and suggests that people of color are not good enough to save themselves. i, personally, don’t think this applies to dany, but most of the hate she gets is based on this (unfair) assessment of her character. people are mad that she gets portrayed positively for freeing slaves because it’s a “destroying a culture” that she is not a part of, even though that so-called “culture” is literally slavery, and slaves in essos are of all races, white included. here is an example of the types of long, drawn out, and exhausting arguments that happen. there’s also this meta that i came across today that’s a very good defense of dany. i hope that helps!
